We will help people with projects in their homes, assist the elderly, tutor
struggling kids, conduct a backyard Bible club, serve at a food bank, staff an activities camp for disabled children, spruce up the grounds of a financially strapped social service agency, engage children at a day camp, prepare food baskets, and improve the community in other important ways.
Oh, and one more thing we're going to have FUN!
There are 22 spots reserved for students. The total cost of this all-inclusive trip is $475.00, which includes all transportation, meals (including meals on the road), lodging, and all other activities we will be doing while on this trip. Don't let the cost stop you from going...we will be doing 3 fundraisers over the coming months to help raise $$$ for our trip. Scholarships are availabe but will be limited for this trip.
How do I become part of the team of 22 students that go on this mission trip???
Sign up to let us know your interested in going. Sign ups don't guarentee that you have a spot on the trip. A letter will be sent to you explaining what will be expected of you as you prepare for our trip.
Fill out an application and turn it in along with the bottom portion (consent) of the letter of expectation.
After we receive your application and signed consent from letter of expectation you will be notified of your spot on the team.
Once you are part of the team a Non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is due. Deposits will NOT be refunded, please keep this in mind as you prepare for our trip.
Information including schedules, what to bring, theme and program details, code of conduct, and additional resources will be sent home over the next few months. We will do our best to provide you with all information needed as our trip approaches. Please don't hesitate to contact either John or Andrea if you have any questions concerning our trip.
Other questions:
What if all 22 spots are filled, is there still a way that I can go on this trip? Only if someone drops out. There will be a waiting list if all 22 spots are filled in case someone drops out.
Where will we stay/what about showers and air conditioning? Local churches or similar facilities for lodging and showers will be be available. Air-conditioning my not always be possible. Please remember that we are going to into the community as servants to demonstrate Jesus' love by being ready and willing to forgo certain luxuries.
Will there be mail delivery service at camp? Letters and packages sent by US Postal Service and most carriers can be received during the camp week but cannot guarantee that packages will be recieved there as Group workcamps are not responsible for tracking lost or stolen packages.
Can I email camper? Family and Friends may be able to email camper by going to GroupWeekof Hope.com and clicking on the "Email a Camper" button. A camp location will not appear in the dropdown menu if Internet service is not available there.
What about electronic devices? While you may bring cell phones, iPods, and MP3 players they often become a distration and disruptive and isolate a camper. For this reason along with presenting a safety hazard in addition to them being easily lost, broken, or stolen we request that you not bring them.
